The Watchtower ends blood prohibition for Jehovah's Witnesses
By Robert King
The Governing Body of the Watchtower has ditched the prohibition against transfusing blood components. While it retains the core policy that no whole blood may be transfused, these procedures account for only about 1% of transfusions. Jehovah's Witnesses may also donate blood components.
No reason was given for this radical departure from a longstanding stance. I ask Jehovah's Witnesses to consider whether this constitutes apostasy, and whether it is the apostasy Paul foretold would immediately precede the second coming of Christ.
